Common questions
What Shopify plan do I need?
You need Shopify Advanced or Plus, or the Carrier Calculated Shipping add-on. This is a Shopify platform requirement for any third-party carrier service app.
How do I activate the rates?
After installing, go to Settings, then Shipping and Delivery. Open your shipping profile and add SmartShip ZA as a carrier. Rates will appear at checkout immediately.
Can I customise the rates?
Rate customisation is on the roadmap. The current rates are R100 (Main), R160 (Regional), and R250 (Outlying). Contact support if you need custom pricing.
What happens if a postal code isn't recognised?
If a postal code isn't in our database, the app returns an empty rate list. Shopify falls back to your other shipping methods. An unrecognised code is logged so we can investigate.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, SmartShip ZA includes a 7-day free trial. After that, billing is $16 USD per month (approximately R300).
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can uninstall the app from your Shopify admin at any time and billing stops immediately.
